How do we save the old gym?

Bringing the "Grand Lady" back to life

This website is much more than just saving the old gym sitting on the corner in Beaver at 5th and Douglas Avenue. Rather, it is about bringing this "Grand Lady" back to life so that she can continue serving the citizens of Beaver County. In her first years of service from 1937 through 1962, she served many wonderful purposes for the school system. Many folks have warm memories of those events. She was given a 2nd life of faithfully serving and honoring our American Legion Post #149 heroes from 1963 until her doors were closed in 2006 due to insufficient finances and needed repairs and upgrades. Quietly, she sat; hoping and biding her time to be of service again. Now, a group of individuals, who remember her grandeur and glory days and who believe there are still many such years ahead for her, have stepped forward to bring her back to life a 3rd time. This group of twenty-five has set up a Nonprofit Corporation, and has begun to organize and recruit others to help resurrect this ?Grand lady.? So come back often to this website, and see the progress that is being made. Better yet, come and join the volunteers and learn firsthand about the progress taking place. There are several workgroups in which your talents can be of service. You will have fun, and you will feel great that you are part of this fabulous history of Beaver County.
